Pete Tasker

A love of both photography and the Lakeland fells are Pete's motivation and inspiration for making images. Successful landscape photography is all about patience and light. Whilst we can’t necessarily predict light quality, half the battle is simply being there with a camera when conditions look promising.

He feels privileged to be able to earn a living doing something he thoroughly enjoys: "If my photographs convey that passion then I will have succeeded with my photography."

For the technophiles he uses a mix of traditional film and newer digital technology. Cameras include a panoramic Hasselblad XPAN 11, Ebony RSW45 with Horseman 612 back and a Nikon digital system. Film stock is exclusively Fuji Velvia 50. He has the original slides Imacon scanned and then output using only the finest inks and heavyweight paper.

A lovely morning with lots of mist and a bit of colour in the sky. The photograph was taken from the north western shoreline between the sailing club and Banks Point so you are shooting into the rising sun from this point. Luckily the mist has helped hold back the brightness of the sky helped further by a 3 stop ND Grad and a 3 stop ND filter to prolong the exposure to 25 seconds. One essential ac..

The boat landings by The Inn on the Lake at Glenridding are probably the most photographed in all The Lakes. Quarter to six on a freezing but calm April morning. The sun is just about to rise and a light layer of frost covers the landing. The scene was actually darker than the photograph might suggest. Exposure was a full thirty seconds, a three stop hard ND Grad held back the sky and the jetty wa..
